About Greenbooth Reservoir:
It is a large upland reservoir located near Norden in Rochdale, Greater Manchester, set within the scenic Naden Valley moorland landscape. Built between 1958 and 1961 and officially opened in 1965, it was created to supply drinking water to the growing local population, but its construction required the abandonment and flooding of the historic village of Greenbooth, which now lies submerged beneath the water. Today the reservoir forms part of a chain of four reservoirs surrounded by open countryside, walking routes and wildlife habitats, offering wide views across Greater Manchester and even towards Yorkshire, while a plaque on the dam commemorates…
